  • Fortnite’s shared V-Bucks wallet will soon support PlayStation.

Apex Legends Mobile:

After being in the beta stage for a while now, Respawn Entertainment has finally launched the mobile port of Apex Legends on May 17th, 2022.

Since its release, Apex Legends has outnumbered a lot of games in terms of popularity. By the end of 2021, the game had crossed more than 100 million players and 13 million weekly active players. With the recent release of the mobile version, Apex Legends has quickly claimed the position of the most downloaded game in multiple regions, including the UK, India and Japan. It has also become one of the top 10 most downloaded iPhone games in over 89 countries.

Electronic Arts is looking for a home:

In what might be one of the most unsurprising revelations all year, this month revealed that video game publisher EA (Electronic Arts) has been doing its best to be bought out by anyone who could afford them. The most invested buyer has been NBC Universal, a company owned by Comcast. However, this deal was not meant to be, as it would fall through due to disagreement between the cost and structure of the acquisition. NBC wasn’t the only company EA had approached to buy them out, with Disney, Apple and Amazon also being courted. After the sale of Activision Blizzard, it seems as if gaming companies worldwide are now all searching for buyout money, which has proved to be in hundreds and millions. For those willing to steer the ship towards an acquisition, it doesn’t seem as if EA will be finding a new home this month, but with CEO Andrew Wilson’s determination, it wouldn’t be surprising to see an announcement before the end of the year.

Old FIFA is EAFC from now on:

EA then made headlines later in the month when it was confirmed that their partnership with FIFA had been officially dissolved. As reported speculation a few months ago, Electronic Arts decided not to re-sign their contract with the international football association. They were essentially asking a whole billion dollars for the right to use their name in the title of their long-running game series. It might be thought that such a vast royalty fee might also include the right to use the more than 17000+ players over 700 teams, 100 stadiums and 30 leagues, but those are all negotiated separately from the deal.

FIFA wanted electronic arts to pay $250 million for every letter of its name. Following the official announcement, some of the largest football clubs in the world, including Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid, all took to social media to express their support for the name change, which is said to be called EA Sports FC. Speaking of the announcement, CEO Andrew Wilson would state, “I would argue – and this may be a little biased – that the FIFA brand has more meaning as a video game than it does as a governing body of soccer.” However, it seems as if FIFA have already found a rebound after the breakout, as they are reportedly working with third-party developers to launch their new line of football titles. Going forward, FIFA president Gianni Infantino would comment on this new partnership stating,“ I can assure you that the only authentic real game with the FIFA name will be the best one available for gamers and football fans.

The FIFA name is the only global, original title.”

RTX 4090 Leaks:

Leaks suggest that the upcoming RTX 4090 will be twice as fast as RTX 3090, if not faster, as indicated by ‘kopite7kimi’ on Twitter.

The new flagship GPU from Nvidia is speculated to come with 24GB of GDDR6X video RAM and consume 600 watts of power. RTX 4090 will be this power-hungry is almost a confirmed fact. Power supply leaders in the market are already pumping out massive wattage power supplies for upcoming Nvidia graphics cards.
